Nightly Homework Expectations:
I understand the importance of socializing and physical activity at this age. For this reason, I only assign a small amount of homework to accommodate more time for students' social and physical needs. Homework is intended to be extra practice and an extension of what we are learning in the classroom during the week.
1.) Independent Reading (at least 20 minutes a day).
2.) Colored Page Extra Practice: Friday folders will include extra practice sheets that will be printed on colored paper. These practice pages might include grammar, reading passages, or math practice etc. that we have been practicing during the week. Practice pages do not need to be turned in.
3.) Word Study Sorts(Spelling): Each student will have a differentiated word study list that meets their individual spelling needs. Lists will be sent home every other week to allow students ample time to practice both at home and in school.
4.) Please ask your child what we are learning about in class. Check out the homepage to see details about our weekly learning to guide your discussions.
